Paramedic Games™
BLS Scenarios Challenge™
This BLS competition is a reality based competition
which paramedics all across Canada and around the world are faced
with during a civilian EMS shift.
The scenarios can be a trauma case, a medical case, a family dispute,
a suicide, a homocide, a psychiatric violent patient call, a car
accident, a motorcycle accident, a sports injury, cardiac arrest,
mass casualty incident and so on.
Our scenarios are realistic and happened to paramedics of the City
of Montreal. Certain paramedics entering the competition will have
to realize that the scenarios are based on calls of a large city
(> 1 Million in population) and might not be familiar with certain
calls due to population difference and region difference.
As paramedics, we must be ready for anything and respond to calls
to the best of our knowledge.
The Motto of the games is GAUDET TENTAMINE VIRTUS which means
in latin: ALWAYS READY TO BE TESTED.
BLS Scenarios Challenge™
Protocols
Paramedics across Canada use different medical
and traumatic protocols depending on their provinces, medical control
and restrictions imposed by the doctors of their respective provinces.
For the Paramedic Games™, we have established our own protocols
to standardize the competency level and required actions to intervene
as a paramedic during the games. We have done this so every paramedic
will be evaluated the same way without causing any prejudice to the
scoring process.
Our protocols medical and traumatic such as CPR, physical intervention,
cervical and spinal immobilization, bandaging, helmet removal, triage,
scene security etc.. will be available on our website shortly.
The protocols of the Paramedic Games™ are guidelines only.
Every competitor and BLS Judge will have to read and understand these
rules and protocols before attending the Paramedic Games™.
