The Paramedic Team Challenge™ organizing team created this team
challenge course to motivate Canadian Paramedics to maintain a high
level of physical and cardiovascular fitness during their careers.
The Paramedic Team Challenge™ will be an indoor competition held
in the largest gymnasium of the Centre Claude Robillard. The Paramedic
Team Challenge™ will be a timed 10 steps physical and cardiovascular
competition. Every second counts.
The objective of this competition is to simulate the resuscitation
of an adult patient in full cardiac arrest (NO PULSE, NOT BREATHING)
located at the top of a third floor building with no elevator.

NOTE TO COMPETITORS AND PARAMEDIC INSTRUCTORS
This Paramedic Team Challenge™ is
a competition only. Although it simulates a certain reality of a BLS
adult cardiac arrest, it does not reflect the actual reality for several
reasons:
The competitors in the challenge are performing a show for the general
public and their fellow paramedic competitors. Therefore, certain
steps have been designed in such a way for the viewers of the challenge
to see what the competitors are doing and to create excitement for
the viewers.
Example #1: Defibrillating at the bottom of the 3rd floor
building stairs should be performed at the top of the 3rd
floor instead of at the bottom of the 3rd floor.
Example #2: The long board 3rd floor climb performed by
paramedic #2 is designed for physical cardiovascular entertainment
only.
Example #3: The 3rd floor initial climb is performed without
a defibrillator to prevent damages to the defibrillator during the
challenge. This type of equipment is expensive.
Example #4: The long last stretch run performed by paramedic #2 for
the equipment retrieval and final evacuation is designed for the physical
cardiovascular aspect of the competition only.
These are just a few examples. The
Paramedic Team Challenge™ exceeds any Canadian paramedic training
facility physical aptitude entry test. It is a tough challenge course!!!
